Day 334: 12/1/13- St. Lydia's Dinner Church

Day 334: 12/1/13- St. Lydia's Dinner Church
New Thing: Dinner Church at St. Lydia's
Inspiration: Advent One, Emily, Rachael, Kara and Lindsay
Time: Several Hours
Bottom Line: This was really great!

Reflection: Tonight, I took a train to Brooklyn (yes, I am a jet-setter ;) to visit St. Lydia's Dinner Church which was founded by two of my Yale Div. buddies: Rachel and Emily! Here is their description:

St. Lydia's is a Dinner Church. We gather every Sunday and Monday night to cook and share a sacred meal, just as the first followers of Jesus did. We eat, explore scripture, offer prayers, and sing together. Tied to the Lutheran and Episcopal traditions, our worship is rooted in the patterns of the Early Church. We are a progressive congregation in New York City, located in the Gowanus/Park Slope neighborhoods in Brooklyn. St. Lydia's is an experiment in what the Church might be when the meal we share is at the center of our common life. We're building this together—come and join us!

It was such a lovely night of prayer, song and food. It was made even more special by sharing it with Kara and Lindsay! I love and miss you guys! Even though you smell, Kara! The only down side was when I missed my train home. whoops!
