Day 249: 9/6/13- Honey Harvest!

Reflection: Today was the honey harvest day! It was a pretty amazing process from start to

finish. To begin with, we took the frames with the capped honey from the hives while making sure that they would still have plenty left over for the winter. I received my first sting of the season when one of the ladies got into my suit. They were not pleased. From there, we took all the frames to my patio, uncapped them and put them in the extractor which spins the frames until the honey is drawn out. We then strain it and enjoy the sweetness. It was amazing!! 

All the equipment at the end. The bees will come and clean up all the excess honey. How awesome is it that they will even do the clean up?!
